How to Book Sabarimala Darshan in 2026-27 — Complete Guide
Step-by-step Sabarimala darshan booking via the official TDB virtual queue. Booking window, dates, travel coordination, and Bangalore-specific tips.
Sabarimala darshan booking changed forever in 2020 when the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) launched the official virtual queue system. This is now the only legitimate way to secure your darshan slot.
The official portal — only book here
There is one official Sabarimala darshan booking portal:
Avoid all other “booking” sites. Travel agencies and third-party operators sometimes claim to “guarantee” Sabarimala slots — they cannot, because slots are issued by TDB only. Pay them for travel logistics if you want, but the actual Q-pass must come from the TDB portal.
When bookings open
| Season | Booking opens approximately |
|---|---|
| Mandala Pooja (Nov-Dec) | Early October |
| Makaravilakku (Jan) | Mid-November |
| Vishu (April) | Mid-March |
| Monthly poojas | 30 days in advance |
For Mandala and Makaravilakku peak weeks, slots can fill within hours of opening. Set a reminder. Have all devotee details (Aadhaar + mobile) ready before the window opens.
Step-by-step booking process
The structured steps for booking are emitted as a Schema.org HowTo block so search engines can show this as a featured snippet. The frontmatter steps: block above captures the canonical 6-step flow.
In summary:
- Visit the portal — https://virtualq.sabarimalaonline.org/
- Register / sign in with mobile + email (Aadhaar required at booking time)
- Pick your darshan date from the available calendar
- Add devotee details — up to 10 members per booking
- Confirm + save the Q-pass (QR code) — both phone + printed copy
- Plan your Pampa travel separately — Q-pass is darshan-only
Bangalore-specific tips
If you’re starting from Bangalore:
- Coordinate Q-pass time with travel duration. Pampa is ~9-10 hours from Bangalore. If your darshan is at 6 AM, you’ll likely depart Bangalore the previous afternoon — see our Travel from Bangalore guide.
- Group bookings work well from Bangalore. Coordinate via the temple’s Matrusamithi or with other Bangalore devotees. Single Q-pass for up to 10 makes group logistics easier.
- Don’t forget the irumudi. Q-pass is just the entry credential. You still need to prepare your irumudi (the sacred bundle every pilgrim carries) before leaving. See our Irumudi preparation guide.
- The 41-day vratham comes first. First-time pilgrims should complete the 41-day spiritual preparation before darshan. Initiation (maladharanam) can be done at Sree Ayyappa Temple, Yeshwanthpur — see our Vratham guide.
Common booking issues
“My OTP isn’t arriving” — TDB’s SMS gateway can be slow on peak booking days. Use email OTP as a fallback if available, or try again in 5 minutes.
“Aadhaar verification failing” — the Aadhaar number entered must EXACTLY match the name on file. Including spelling, middle name, etc. If it fails, recheck on the UIDAI portal first.
“Page won’t load on the booking date” — the portal sees massive concurrent load when peak windows open. Try a different browser, or wait 5-10 minutes for the surge to ease.

Frequently asked
-
How many days in advance can I book Sabarimala darshan?
TDB opens bookings approximately 30 days in advance of the darshan date. For peak Mandala or Makaravilakku slots, you'll need to book at the moment the window opens — they fill in hours. Off-peak monthly windows are usually available with a few days' notice.
-
Is booking mandatory for Sabarimala darshan?
Yes — since 2020, advance booking via the TDB virtual queue is mandatory. Walk-in darshan is not permitted in regular crowds. Booking is free; no payment to TDB itself.
-
Can I book Sabarimala darshan for someone else?
Yes. A single account can book up to 10 devotees per slot. Their names, ages, mobile numbers, and Aadhaar numbers must be entered at booking. All members must be present in person on the darshan day.
-
What if the Q-pass slot fills before I can book?
For very tight Mandala or Makaravilakku slots, TDB occasionally opens additional capacity in batches. Refresh the virtualq portal periodically. If completely full, consider a less crowded window — a monthly pooja or Vishu season.
-
Do children need a separate booking?
Children under 12 do not require a separate Q-pass but should be added to the parent's booking. Carry birth proof or school ID at the gate.
