About this sadhana

Why we sing Harivarasanam

Harivarasanam is the lullaby sung at Sabarimala every night to put Lord Ayyappa to rest. The traditional 8-stanza Sanskrit hymn praises Hariharaputra — the son of Hari (Vishnu) and Hara (Shiva) — and seals the temple's daily sequence with the closing Atazha pooja.

At Sree Ayyappa Temple, Yeshwanthpur, we recite Harivarasanam at 7:45 PM every evening. Devotees attend in person at the Chuttambala — leaflets in your preferred script are distributed. Sponsor a batch of leaflets or the daily prasadam to support the sadhana.

The 41-day pre-Mandala vratham observance and the Mandala / Makaravilakku season include Harivarasanam as a daily anchor. Devotees observing personal sadhana cycles often log their daily check-ins above. See also the Sabarimala Yatra guide for the broader pilgrimage context.
