Ayilya Pooja
Monthly Naga & Subramanya observance on Ashlesha star
Ayilya Pooja (ಆಯಿಲ್ಯಂ ಪೂಜೆ (ಆಶ್ಲೇಷಾ ನಕ್ಷತ್ರ) | आयिल्य पूजा) is the formal devotional rite performed on Ashlesha (Ayilyam) nakshatra each month — sacred to the Nagas and to Lord Subramanya. Devotees attend for family prosperity, fertility blessings, and remedies for Sarpa Dosha and Kuja Dosha. The pooja includes archana, dhupam, deeparadhana, and a special prasada offering.
Ayilya Pooja is the headline observance on Ashlesha (Ayilyam) nakshatra — the formal pooja sacred to the Nagas (serpent deities) and to Lord Subramanya. It is the central rite of the monthly Ayilyam day at our temple.
What the pooja includes
- Archana in the name of the devotee + their family (Gotra + Nakshatra recited)
- Dhupam (incense offering)
- Deeparadhana before the Naga vigraha + Subramanya vigraha
- Mantra Pushpam — flower offering with mantras
- Prasada distribution — temple-prepared payasam + tirtha
Who should plan around Ayilya Pooja
- Families seeking the Nagas’ grace for prosperity + lineage
- Devotees observing Sarpa Dosha remedies
- Those with planetary Kuja (Mars) afflictions — Ayilya Pooja is one of the traditional Mars-Naga remedies
- Anyone whose birth nakshatra falls in Ashlesha, Jyeshtha, or Revati (Naga-associated nakshatras)
What to bring
- A small offering (flowers / coconut / fruits — temple staff can guide if you don’t have specifics)
- Names + Gotra + Nakshatra of family members for the archana
- A clean cloth bag for the prasada
Ayilya Pooja is performed on a fixed Malayalam-month cycle. To book or to confirm the next Ayilyam date, contact +91 7353063336 or see the Ayilyam Pooja group page for the full programme.
