Sacred Significance

About this day's rituals

The spiritual climax of the entire programme.

At the auspicious Anizham Nakshatram in Mithuna Rashi, the Jeevakalasam — bearing the very life-breath of Sree Ayyappa Swami from the old idol — is processed into the new Sreekovil and poured over the new idol, fully awakening the deity. Sreekovil remains open through 6 PM for Darshan.

For the next three days, Swami’s poojas are conducted in the Mandapam (Sreekovil closed). A Nilavilakku, lit with Swami’s five Tattvas, is taken out temporarily from the Sreekovil and represents Swami until the great opening on Day 11.

Devotees poured their Sankalpa into the golden Kalasams as the temple resounded with Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa. Your continued Seva sustains the temple's daily worship.
